Li Chiao-Ping Dance presents “eVOLUTION”,
offers lessons to living

Li Chiao-Ping Dance (LCPD) is pleased to present “eVOLUTION” at the Overture Center for the Arts in Madison on March 5-7, 2010. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students or seniors, and can be purchased through the Overture Center box office.

In “eVOLUTION”, the name of the game is survival. These dances explore how we adapt to and overcome various obstacles in our lives, offering lessons to living. The program includes four world premieres, including “eVOL”, a live-action-adventure game/dance, recreates aspects of video games and gives the dancers win or lose choices to make. This work, choreographed by Li Chiao-Ping, will be created while Ms. Li is in residence at the Madison Senior Center and will include seniors performing alongside LCPD’s company of dancers. “Press”, a new work by Los Angeles-based choreographer Lionel Popkin, investigates how pressure and compression, touching and being touched, embracing and being embraced can both draw us toward others and repel others from us.  Guest choreographer Cynthia Adams will premiere “Baby On Board”, which includes humorous recitations of classic Dr. Seuss rhymes such as “There’s a Wocket in My Pocket”.

School children have a unique opportunity to participate in “eVOLUTION”. Li Chiao-Ping Dance’s initiative DANCE FOR YOUNG AUDIENCES makes it possible for young children from Dane County schools to experience dance for free.  With support from American Girl’s Fund for Children, the company prepares a special performance, followed by discussion with the artists, as well as follow-up movement classes with the students in their schools.  Our “Dance for Young Audiences” kicks off our “eVOLUTION” concert weekend. Schools interested in attending a Dance for Young Audiences should contact Kelly Rupp at
(608) 263-5735 or mgr@lichiaopingdance.org for more information. Space is very limited so reserve early.
