EnCore Performance/Laughing Bodies, Dancing Minds  2020

Li Chiao-Ping Dance has taught movement classes at area senior centers since 2001, providing opportunities for older adults to be physically active in a creative and intellectually stimulating way. EnCore Performance is a somatic approach to gaining athleticism. The classes focus on building upper body and core strength, improving balance and coordination, and exploring creative expression through movement. In addition, these older adults participate in the creative process, as Artistic Director Li will create a new dance in which they will be given special parts to perform on stage along with Li Chiao-Ping Dance's company of professional dancers. Techniques include inversions, floorwork, and falls that facilitate personal growth and creative exploration, giving participants a chance to perform not just on stage, but in other areas  of life as well. The participants learn to focus their mind and body to execute movement sequences that are learned, understood, and delivered clearly.

No prior dance experience needed. Scholarships are available for those with a limited income. Dance registration necessary.
